The end of the ski season is almost here. Because the snow is melting out quickly, we thought we would put together our top ten ways to end the ski season on a high note.

  1. Bud Light Rocks the Boat Free Concert Series. Don’t miss Anderson East April 15th and The Wailers April 16th, in a rocking farewell to winter.

  2. Sunset Happy Hour every Thursday at the top of the gondola. Listen to music, watch the sun set over spectacular Routt County and catch up with friends.

  3. Go for a hike. Yup, there are plenty of trails already melted out and dry that are calling for some feet to go exploring. Be aware of certain trail closures that protect elk habitat.

  4. Get a massage at Life Essentials Day Spa. No better way to prep your muscles for biking season than with a sports massage or deep tissue massage.

  5. Cardboard Classic. Want to watch locals cruise down the mountain in handmade cardboard cars? A local’s favorite.

  6. Kayak. It’s a little early yet for tubing down the Yampa but kayakers are already out in force, making sure not to miss the Yampa’s peak flow.

  7. Adopt a dog. There are plenty of dogs that need a loving home. Visit the Routt County Humane Society to find your soul mate. What better way to force you out into the wilderness than with a four legged friend who wants to be by your side the whole way?

  8. Get ready for local’s specials. As soon as the mountain closes and the tourists head back home, Steamboat’s restaurants offer a variety of specials to entice you in. The Steamboat Pilot and Today usually has specials listed.

  9. Go for a last ski on Rabbit Ears Pass. The base of the gondola may be a muddy mess, but Rabbit Ears still has plenty of snow to offer.

  10. Whip off your bras and panties and throw them on the Mardi Gras tree. Don’t know what that is? Ask a local.
