The Dos and Don’ts of Giving a Spa Experience as a Holiday Gift

Everyone loves to be pampered but everyone loves to be pampered differently. Some people like to relax to the gentle touch of a Swedish massage, while others like to feel their knots and their stresses are being worked out of their bodies during a deep tissue or sports massage. Some people prefer facials to massage. Some people like visiting a spa for a wax or spray tan or eyelash tint.

Below we would like to offer a few Dos and Don’ts of giving a spa experience as a gift:

Do feel free to book yourself a spa experience in Steamboat with your friend, mom, dad, brother or sister. Having you with them makes the day so much more fun. Plan for lunch before or after and spend some quality time together.

Do call the spa first to find out types of treatments they offer, what their availability is for the times you want to come in and whether or not they have any specials.

Do check the reputation of the spa. How does the spa rate against other spas in the area? Have they won any awards? How are their therapists rated? Checking places like Trip Advisor, Best of the ‘Boat (for Steamboat Springs, CO) and Google reviews are all great ways to insure you will get a good experience.

Do make the presentation special. This is a gift! At Life Essentials Day Spa, you can print out a certificate on-line with a customized theme for your loved one, or you can stop into our spa and we will print out the certificate and nestle it into a gift bag with tissue paper to build the excitement and suspense.

Don’t give a person a specific spa service such as a hot stone massage or facial if you don’t know them very well. We always recommend a gift certificate for a dollar amount in those cases so people can choose their own service. Some people don’t like to be touched, others have an aversion to having their faces worked on. You just never know.

Don’t expect a spa service under your tree unless you ask for one. We have found that ‘hinting’ to men doesn’t always work very well. Post a list in the house, or say ‘Wow, I could really use a good deep tissue massage from Life Essentials Day Spa on fourth and Lincoln this Christmas. I hear they are open seven days a week and are happy to print out gift certificates on the spot.’ You know, very subtle.

At Life Essentials Day Spa we hope you have a happy and healthy holiday season! Let us relax you and take away your cares with a spa treatment you won’t forget.
